Entrepreneurship so important because today's urgent challenges - from the economy to energy and the environment - demand that we unlock the innovative potential of everyone in society. People are our one natural resource that will never run out. In today's economic climate this has become more important and urgent than ever.

Today, entrepreneurial individuals appear from all walks of life to exploit business opportunities for both economic and social gains.  Anyone can grow an innovative idea into a lasting enterprise that can make a positive impact - including those who may have thought their dreams were out of reach.

Experienced entrepreneurs can shape the next generation of business leaders by sharing their stories and serving as role models.  Businesses of every size can help bring new enterprise to life by cultivating their employees' skills, encouraging new ideas in the workplace and working with educators to prepare tomorrow's entrepreneurs.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the first-ever international celebration of enterprise. During November 17 - 23, millions of young people around the world will join a growing movement of entrepreneurial people, to unleash their enterprising ideas to make a profit and address society's biggest issues.

Thousands of activities are being planned in more than 75 countries around the world - all with the goal to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity and to encourage them to think big, to turn their ideas into reality, and to make their mark.
