When starting a business in Slovakia, there are basically two main options:
Becoming an entrepreneur based on
the Trade licence, i.e.a physical entity not registered in the
Commercial Code. The sequence of steps to take to become an entrepreneur based on
the Trade licence are set out in the first part of the information material Basic administrative steps to take when starting a business.
Some activities have to be undertaken under special regulations - e.g. an activity performed by doctors, chemists, lawyers, patent representants and law executors, experts and interpretors, auditors and tax advisors, restorers of cultural monuments as well as e.g. operation of a private security service, provision of social services and employment services, international irregular bus transport, international road cargo transport. The provider of these services has to be registered in the list which is administered by a particular chamber, ministry or other central government body. (Deatailed list of activities exluded from the Trades Licencing Act are specified in the § 3 of the Act nr. 455/1991 Coll. on Trade business as amended by the Act).
Setting up a legal entity registered in the Commercial Code ("spolo?nos? s ru?ením
obmedzeným, akciová spolo?nos?, verejná obchodná spolo?nos?, komanditná
spolo?nos?, družstvo") The instructions to set up a
legal entity registered in the Commercial Code are included in the second part of the information material Basic administrative steps to take when starting a business. The material comprises also the most important
duties connected with starting a business that are required
by particular legal regulations for entrepreneurs.
