Kia Motors Slovakia has begun working in two-shift operations again at its Teplicka nad Vahom factory in the Zilina region.

The production site had previously been on a one-shift system due to the effect the economic downturn has had on sales.

However, Dusan Dvorak explained to the Slovakian news agency TASR on Friday that the factory would be back up to two-shift operations from today (March 2nd).

Under the policy, staff will work six hours in the morning and afternoon shifts, with the two hours of each left over paid at 60 per cent of the normal rate.

Kia revealed in January that it was to again sponsor the Australian Open tennis tournament, the eighth year it has done so.

Slovakia''s Daniela Hantuchova made it to the final of the doubles competition with her partner Ai Sugiyama, while British number one Andy Murray was unable to progress past the fourth round, losing to Fernando Verdasco.
