Good news for the Slovaks and Czechs living in the UK! 16 March 2009 saw the opening of the new Czech and Slovak Information and Business Centre in London,

a place where the professional and social life of the Slovak, Czech and British communities come together. The reception for the opening of the Infocentre enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere of the art exhibition and a tasting of Pavelka wines. Slovak artist Jaro Sulek's artworks impressed the guests with their provocative emotionality which accepts no borders, as Sara Sist, Galliarist and Fine Art Consultant, in opening the exhibition personified through an Italian presenting an exhibition of a Slovak artist in London.

The wine tasting from the Pavelka range was appreciated by all of the guest, who represented the range of the Czech and Slovak communities in London.  Mr Jan Telensky, Czech and Slovak entrepreneur expressed his enthusiasm for the energy of the new businessmen from the Czech and Slovak republics, and the importance of training and information in these difficult economic times.  He has, as Patron of the Slovak British Business Council, recently supported the creation of a news service about business and tourism in the Slovak Republic which is available on the SBBC web site, www.sbbc.org.uk.

The evening was opened by Mr Robert Dubravec, the young Slovak entrepreneur and the director of the new InfoCentre. His welcome to the guests was followed by the speech of Mr Radovan Javorcik, Deputy Head of Mission of the Slovak Embassy.  Mr Ladislav Potucek, Director of the Czech and Slovak National House placed the new InfoCentre in the context of the continuing programme of renovation of this building which has been serving the Czech and Slovak communities for 650 years.  Mr David Hodgson, the president of the Slovak British Business Council that cooperated on opening of the new InfoCentre, concluded his speech wishing Mr Dubravec to serve as a shining example for young ambitious Slovaks and Czechs bringing innovative ideas to the UK while still contributing to the development of their countries.

The new Infocentre provides accounting services, business, tax and civic advice, free internet, library, English and training courses as well as elegant meeting rooms for hire. It should be the first stop for every Slovak and Czech in London.
