SBBC Interns' Testimonies

Gita Hulmanova:

When I look back at my SBBC internship experience after a lapse of few months, I can at last fully appreciate how valuable it has been for me personally, as well as for my career development. The SBBC internship has helped me understand the processes of cooperation between the state institutions and private partners in business sector. It was extremely valuable for me to be part of the formation of a new institution - The Czech and Slovak Info Business Centre. Thanks to Marianna and David Hodgson I gained an invaluable experience in transforming ideas into projects and making them feasible, finding the right partners and financing it.

The experience I gained during my internship at SBBC contributed to my career development, as I could use it while applying for the position of the Youth Delegate to the UN General Assembly in New York in October 2009. And I'm honoured to actually have been chosen as the Youth Delegate to represent the young people of Slovakia at this important event.

Work at SBBC required the ability to work independently, while still having in mind the common goal of the whole team. I understood better the value of innovative business ideas and the importance of the right timing and approach. As I could take a close look at the actual organisation of a big project at the SBBC, I got a deeper understanding of all the practicalities that have to be kept in mind. I'm extremely grateful for being given the opportunity to develop and enhance useful skills that I can use in my position now!

Lubomira Kellerova:

The internship itself was an excellent opportunity to test „the real water“. Up to that point, my only knowledge of what a starting a project is, did came from personal research and the internet. The workload was realistic and it gave me opportunities to add value. I enjoyed being productive at times. Once I really got into an assignment, I felt like I was able to make it my own and gain the confidence to work alone. The team of us, the internship students, was really great and so were our mentors, Marianna and David. Moreover, we had celebrations and some workshops throughout the summer that kept us motivated and it felt like beeing a part of bigger family. However, this opportunity gave me a chance to see first hand what a creating the idea of business and putting it into practice is really about. The whole internship was well structured and was impressed by the many-sided type of work I was given. I learned a lot and developed many practical skills and enjoyed being able to participate in a meaningful way on projects. I hope that my input was valued and that my work was helpful.
