Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) SK has been awarded a five-year extension to its existing contract to continue measuring analogue and digital television viewing in Slovakia.

Television company PMT originally awarded the work to research firm TNS SK in 2004, while this new contract will begin in 2010.

A panel of 1,200 homes from across Slovakia will feature in the next survey.

To pre-empt this, 12,000 Slovaks will be interviewed to discern the most important influential factors on audiences.

Ivan Simek, managing director at TNS SK, said: "The PMT decision is proof that our agency is able to provide high-quality TV audience measurement, and that our technology provides TV stations with new possibilities for assessment of TV programme creation and advertising sales."

TNS SK will monitor all TV stations in the Slovak Republic and measure both analogue and digital forms of TV signal using its Peoplemeter TARIS 5000 technology.

Data will be transferred to a central server at night and audience numbers will be available the following morning.
