Czech Republic energy company CEZ is to work with the Slovakian government to develop a nuclear power plant in Jaslovske Bohunice.

Located in the west of Slovakia, the development is expected to lead to the creation of a strong nuclear industry in the region.

Slovakian prime minister Robert Fico said that a contract between the Slovak government and CEZ to establish a joint venture to work on the new plant will be signed at the next European Nuclear Energy Forum, to be held in Prague on May 29th.

The Slovakian cabinet decided to work with CEZ at the end of 2008.

Eva Novakova, CEZ spokeswoman, told the Prague Daily Monitor that the total amount of investment will be unveiled after results of a tendering process with suppliers are known.

Czech prime minister Jan Fischer discussed the collaboration on a recent visit to Slovakia.

He told the TASR news agency that he has pledged both his own and the Czech Republic''s support to Slovakia''s bid to ensure the European Energy Regulatory Authority is headquartered in Bratislava.
