EESC calls for more democratisation

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) has given its support to calls for more democratisation in eastern Europe.
It is to assist with the organisation of the Civil Society Forum, which is being established to help implement the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) Action Plans in the region.
Ivan Vole, a representative for the Czech Republic, said: "More support is needed to help the countries in Europe modernise in line with EU standards."
Andrzej Adamczyk, EESC member from Poland, stated that the forum needs to be involved in the implementation of the ENP Action Plans in the countries of the Southern Caucasus: Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
He added that these states are in a difficult geopolitical situation and face trying social and political circumstances.
Slovakia recently entered into a trade agreement with Azerbaijan during a visit to the country by Slovakian deputy prime minister and justice minister Stefan Harabin.
The Slovakian ministers discussed the strengthening of legal cooperation between the two countries with Azerbaijan justice minister Fikret Mammadov.
