Aviation sector 'still competitive'

Airlines are becoming increasingly competitive as the economic downturn rumbles on in an effort to net customers, a commentator claims, which may mean that Britons looking to fly to Slovakia can bag a bargain this summer.
David Beckerman, vice-president of OAG Market Intelligence at UBM Aviation, said: "This has always been a highly competitive industry and when revenues are in decline there is bound to be even greater focus on squeezing out the competition."
He added that one strategy which may become apparent is airlines expanding their routes and services to incorporate less congested airports.
Britons who have booked flights to Slovakia may be interested to hear that Bratislava Airport recently enlarged the passageway connecting Departure Terminal A with Arrival Terminal B, the Slovak Spectator reported.
The airport''s spokesperson and PR manager Dana Madunicka told the TASR news wire that the expansion was designed to increase passenger comfort while they are waiting.
