KDH deputy stands down

The vice-chairman of Slovakia''s Christian Democrats (KDH) political party has stood down from his position following the results of the European Parliament elections.
Martin Fronc was the top candidate for the KDH but finished behind fellow candidates Anna Zaborska and Miroslav Mikolasik, originally rated third and fourth respectively.
The pair both won seats in the European Parliament because of the preferential votes cast by KDH voters.
Mr Fronc handed in his resignation after the publication of the results and told TASR: "Considering the results of the European Parliament elections on Saturday, I''ve decided to resign from my post as KDH vice-chair, and also from KDH chairmanship."
The KDH received 10.87 per cent of the vote, winning the party two of the thirteen European Parliament mandates allocated to Slovakia.
Elsewhere the Smer Social Democracy won five seats with 32 per cent and the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union took two with 16.98 per cent.
