Travel insurance 'as important as a suitcase'

When planning a holiday, travel insurance is as important a consideration as what is going into the suitcase, one sector commentator has claimed.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at the British Insurance Brokers'' Association, said that Britons should not underestimate the importance of holiday cover and should always ensure they buy it and make sure it is the right policy for them.
"People tend to see it as a commodity attached to their holiday but it is something you''ve got to rely on," he added.
Mr Trudgill explained that if something were to go wrong while overseas, Britons would want to have the peace of mind that they could speak to someone in English who would be able to help them.
Confused.com recently asserted that the number of queries it has received about travel cover has risen by 63 per cent, when compared with this time last year.
Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at Confused.com, said people were becoming increasingly aware of the protection that travel insurance provided.
