Slovakia to welcome Chinese president

Slovakia is to welcome the Chinese president Hu Jintao on an official visit.
China''s leader was invited to come to Slovakia by president Ivan Gasparovic and will combine his trip to eastern Europe with a number of other overseas commitments.
Mr Jintao will attend the ninth summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the first meeting of Brazil, Russia, India and China in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg before heading to Slovakia and Croatia between June 18th and June 20th.
Discussions during the president''s stay in Slovakia are expected to examine the furthering of diplomatic ties and enhancement of trade cooperation between the two countries.
Wu Hongbo, China''s assistant foreign minister, held talks with Olga Algayerova, the secretary of state for the Slovakian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Bratislava earlier in the year.
China''s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the pair discussed cooperation in a number of areas including business, culture, science, technology and education.
