Slovakia hopes to benefit from Chinese investment

Slovakia would be happy to receive investment from China to boost its economy during the global recession, the state''s president has claimed.
Ivan Gasparovic said that Slovakia is keen on redeveloping its business relationship with China and doing more to enhance investment conditions, TASR reported.
President Hu Jintao told China View: "My visit, I believe, [will] promote the mutual understanding of our two countries, enhance the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and push forward the development of friendly and cooperative ties between China and Slovakia."
Both presidents were keen to emphasise the strength of the relationship between the two states and the fact that there are no conflicts of interest.
Areas of potential cooperation include telecommunications, energy, automobile and machine industries.
The pair said that they could also build on China''s Slovakian investment in IT, which has seen companies including Lenovo, Huawei and ZTE open offices in the country.
Mr Hu Jintao''s two-day visit to Slovakia ends today (June 19th) and is the first by a Chinese premier since Slovakia became independent in 1993.
