Slovakia's pharmaceutical industry remains healthy, report shows

Slovakia''s pharmaceutical market remains one of the most attractive in central and eastern Europe, new research has claimed.
A study by companiesandmarkets.com cited statistics from BMI''s Business Environment Ranking for the first quarter of the year, which placed Slovakia in joint first place with the Czech Republic.
Possible handicaps to market growth include national healthcare debts, modest overall market size and slow population growth, the research explained.
However, the study suggested that Slovakia "is being one of the more proactive European Union (EU) members in addressing the complexities associated with patients receiving treatment outside their home countries".
The survey said that Slovakia is one of the EU members taking part in the Smart Open Services for European Patients project, an initiative launched to increase co-operation and information sharing between the numerous e-health systems.
A previous piece of research by companiesandmarkets.com revealed that the automobile sector in Slovakia recently showed signs of recovery despite the impact of the global recession.
