Businesses 'still concerned about eco travel'

Businesses are keen to keep their eco concerns on the agenda when it comes to drawing up their travel policy, one sector commentator has claimed.

Paul Robin, founder of Business Travel Market, said there were travel firms where environmental policies were at the "absolute heart" of what they did, which could be good news for holidaymakers planning a getaway in Slovakia but keen to keep their carbon footprint to a minimum.

However, amid the credit crunch, he stated: "The number one [issue] is how do we survive, how do we get leaner so that when we come out of this sharp fall in economic business, we are well placed to take advantage of the upturn[?]"

Mr Robin noted that organisations should be asking themselves what would be a worthwhile trip and what would not when it comes to business travel.

Meanwhile, Richard Tams, head of UK and Ireland sales at British Airways, recently stated that the airline had a lot to say on environmental issues and aviation.
