Representatives from a number of Japanese importers visited Slovakia last week to discuss business opportunities.

The companies were interested in Slovakian goods which have proved popular with consumers in their homeland, especially textiles, TASR reported.

A number of companies including Dana Kleinert Design, Veronika Gall, Cenra and Ozeta Neo received visits from the Japanese entrepreneurs.

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (Sario) was responsible for organising the trip.

Juraj Kiesel, Sario''s acting manager, said: "The Japanese business people were looking not only for top quality and original products but also at the manufacturing capabilities of companies and their future viability."

Fashion designer Dana Kleinert told the news provider that Slovakia needs to showcase products and services which are unique to the country and have a high export value.

Ms Kleinert is an independent fashion designer known for specialising in fabric design and has hosted fashion shows in Vienna, Helsinki and Prague.
