Slovakia's "stable environment" important for VW

Slovakia''s stable economic environment has been an important factor in a major car manufacturer''s decision to work in the country.
Andreas Tostmann, head of the board of directors at Volkswagen Slovakia, told the Slovak Spectator that the firm - which is the country''s largest exporter - continues working in Slovakia because of the economy''s solidity.
He said: "From this point of view the introduction of the euro was very critical because it enabled us to make long-term plans."
In the future, government support for the subcontractor infrastructure will be important as well as a commitment to developing the educational structure for automotive industry workers, Mr Tostmann added.
A recent study by companiesandmarkets.com revealed that the automobile industry in Slovakia is showing positive signs despite the impact of the global economic recession.
The introduction of scrappage schemes in countries such as the UK, Germany and Slovakia means that demand for vehicles has begun to grow.
