Research Slovakian road laws

Britons planning a foreign holiday where they hope to discover the country by driving - which may include those heading to Slovakia this summer - have been advised by one sector commentator to first research the country''s motoring laws.

Tim Uden, managing editor at the Backpackers Ultimate Guide, said that the most obvious point travellers need to find out is which side of the road they will be driving on.

He stated that after a few days of driving abroad Britons should get used to driving on the right but that they should take extra care at roundabouts - where traffic would be feeding through in the opposite direction to the UK - and left turns.

"Research the destination before travelling to make yourself aware of any local rules regarding parking and road tolls as well as road rules and unfamiliar road signs," Mr Uden stated.

His comments follow recent research by the RAC which revealed that one in three UK holidaymakers plan to drive while in Europe this year.
