Green travel "poster child" is AquaCity

AquaCity in Slovakia is the "poster child" of green travel, one resource has suggested.
The hotel spa and resort in Poprad draws geothermal heated water from a natural aquifer which is used to heat the indoor and outdoor pools, as well as the car park during the winter.
Indeed, AquaCity should prove to individuals who need convincing that green travel need not be all about "hippies", JambleMag noted.
It continued: "The days of yurts as a symbol for green travel are long gone and with affordable, innovative resorts like AquaCity leading the way, the image of green travel looks set to be geothermal powered."
The environmentally friendliness of the resort resulted in it winning the World''s Leading Green Resort and Europe''s Leading Green Resort trophies at the first World Travel Green Awards.
Staying at the resort could prove ideal for frequent fliers who travel to Slovakia for business.
Firms which cannot cut back on face-to-face meetings with clients could look to reduce their carbon footprint instead, the Guild of Travel Management Companies recently said.
