Britons who want to let their loved ones know how their holiday in Slovakia is going might want to send a postcard.

New research from ABTA - The Travel Association, found that 53 per cent of Britons prefer to receive a postcard than a text message or email.

People may also want to make sure they choose the picture on the front wisely, as 26 per cent of respondents claimed they keep all postcards they receive.

Holidaymakers in Slovakia could choose from a variety of scenic pictures, such as Spiss Castle, one of the many squares in Bratislava or a snapshot of the High Tatras mountains.

Commenting on postcards, Mark Tanzer, chief executive of ABTA, said: "They provide an intriguing and very personal glimpse into someone else''s experiences away from home and travellers can''t resist telling their friends and family at home what a great time they are having without them."

Post offices can be found in towns and villages in Slovakia, with some branches even located in supermarkets.ADNFCR-2242-ID-19289106-ADNFCR
