Holiday haggling 'may not be an option'

Haggling for a good travel deal may not always be the best option when organising a holiday, one sector commentator has claimed, in news which may interest Britons hoping to take a break in Slovakia this summer.

However, Sean Tipton, spokesperson at ABTA - The Travel Association, said the holiday industry was very competitive in the UK, meaning there were usually good deals to be had as many firms may have already lowered their prices.

The travel representative advised people to shop around when they were planning a trip.

"Don''t necessarily think the first price you see is necessarily the best, shop around. That''s the way to get the best deal," Mr Tipton explained.

His comments come after research by Visa Europe revealed that a quarter of Britons are now haggling before booking holidays.

Furthermore, only 11 per cent accept the first price that they are quoted for a getaway.
