Understanding of cancer risks 'improving'

Britons'' understanding of the risks posed by the sun is improving, however, the behaviour of many people is not, according to one sector commentator.
Rebecca Freeman at the British Association of Dermatologists said that while some individuals now use a sunscreen to protect their skin from harmful UV rays, they frequently chose the wrong factor, meaning their health could still be at risk.
In addition, many people used the fact they were wearing protective lotion as an excuse to stay out in the sun for too long and sometimes Britons did not reapply the lotion for too great a space of time, she explained.
"It is important that people are aware of the protection level they need to sufficiently protect their skin from sun damage," Ms Freeman advised.
Britons planning a trip to Slovakia may be interested to hear that the climate is similar to that of the UK, meaning sunscreen may still be necessary during the summer months.
