Britons planning a break in Slovakia this summer and who are keen to keep to a tight budget may be pleased to hear that the euro is stabilising.

According to research by HiFX, a stable month for the sterling and the euro may help holidaymakers to budget and ease some of their financial pressures.

In contrast, when compared to currencies such as the Australian dollar and New Zealand dollar, the situation continued to be "extremely volatile", the group stated.

"Holidaymakers heading to the continent enjoyed an average exchange rate of €1.16 to the pound. Whilst this is a far cry from the heady €1.52 we were seeing in 2007, this reduced volatility has made planning and sticking to a holiday budget easier," the report noted.

Such news may be welcomed by Britons, after research by Santander Cards revealed that the average holiday budget this year has been cut by £256 per person, per week.
