An end to premium economy seats?

Premium economy seats on flights may soon become a thing of the past as air passenger duty (APD) increases, one sector commentator has claimed.
A spokesperson for ABTA - The Travel Association explained that at one stage APD was seen as a green tax.
However, she added that there appeared to be little evidence that the duty was going towards environmentally-friendly projects.
The representative went on to note that tour operators and airlines have said that because premium economy gives extra space for people who are tall at a reduced price, it is going to be taxed at a similar rate to business class and first class sections of the aircraft.
"Pricing people out of that premium economy section, tour operators and airlines feel that they may have to get rid of premium economy as a whole," she concluded.
Britons concerned about forking out more for air travel may wish to choose a destination that is more budget-friendly.
Slovakia has previously been noted by several companies as being one of the cheapest destinations to visit in Europe.
