Weak pound 'may not deter travellers'

The weak pound should not be putting off Britons from travelling overseas, one sector commentator has claimed, in what may be welcome news to people planning a trip to Slovakia.
Marc Cogliatti, currency strategist at HiFX, said that while sterling is currently significantly lower than it was this time last year, it has begun to show signs of recovery over the last six months.
Furthermore, he added that at the beginning of 2009 the pound was "significantly" lower, meaning that Britons were better off than they are now.
"People are always going to be inclined to go abroad. Everybody likes to chase the sunshine and get away," Mr Cogliatti noted.
He went on to state that while currency may be a factor in some people''s holiday decisions it was unlikely to put the majority off travelling altogether.
His comments come after the European Central Bank revealed the pound was up 0.34 per cent on August 14th 2009 against the euro.
