Bratislava- Russian airline Aeroflot after a four-year outage recovered its scheduled air link between Bratislava and Moscow, with twice-a-week flights on TU-154 M aircraft on Tuesday and Thursday. The service to Slovakia started on May 27, 2008.

"A scheduled line will stimulate the development of tourism and business interests," Aeroflot director general Valery M. Okulov told reporters. If there is great interest, Aeroflot is set to increase the number of flights. The direct flight to Bratislava improves Aeroflot’s services offer. Now, passengers do not have to fly via Prague, Vienna or Budapest.

In the 1990`s and early 2000 Aeroflot had run flights five times a week to and from Moscow and Bratislava. They stopped in 2004 when its IL-62 and TU-134 aircrafts failed to meet European noise and emission standards after Slovakia joined the European Union. In 2004-2007 the airlink between both capitals was covered by Slovak Airlines.

In February, Aeroflot, which had opened its business representation in Bratislava in 1969, has recently celebrated its 85th anniversary in business. Its fleet includes 85 planes, half of which are Airbus A320s and Boeing 767s.
