The Demänovská Cave of Freedom is situated in the Demänovská Valley and is the most beautiful cave of the large system of caves, in the north of the Low Tatras. It was created in blue-grey (guttenstein) Triassic calcites and has six floors.

The Demänovská Cave of Freedom is unique with quantity and variety of stalactite formations of all types. All stalactite and stalagmite formations are still growing, with high gloss, what is very rare in other caves. This is the reason why is the cave so attractive for domestic as well as foreign visitors.

The Demänovská Ice Cave presents the northern part of world known Demänovské Caves. It stands out by occurrence of permanent ice fill, bizarre and mighty shapes of underground spaces, rare cave fauna as well as rich history.


Harmanecka cave

Situated in the Harmanecka valley, in southern part of the Greater Fatra, to the northwest of Banska Bystrica. It was formed in the Middle Triassic limestones by the ancient paleoflow, at two developmental levels. The overall length of the cave is about 2,650 m. The cave is known for a rich occurrence of white soft sinter.

The Bystrianska Cave is the most important cave of the Upper Hron River Valley. It is known by remarkable rocky features and evolution of underground spaces, occurrence of flowstone fills as well as by favourable climatic conditions for speleotherapeutical treatment.

 

The Vazecka Cave

The Važecká Cave is one of the most known caves in the northern Slovakia. Though by length it belongs among the short show caves, it is known by occurrence of rich dripstone decoration, remarkable findings of cave bear bones, as well as by rare cave fauna.

 

The Belianska Cave

The Belianska Cave belongs among the most visited show caves in Slovakia. Except for bizarre rocky shapes, it is known by rich occurrence of calcite fills. Though the interest in natural attractions of the cave have been persisting for 125 years, the rules of its forming are not entirely clear by now.

 

The Dobsinska Ice Cave

It is a karst cave with ice content in some parts of the cave. In the Big Hall there is ice in the form of ground ice, ice waterfalls, ice stalagmites and columns, the largest layer of ice is 26,5 m thick. Due to its beauty and nature value it was inscribed into the List of UNESCO World Natural Heritage in 2000.


 

Ochtinska Aragonite Cave

Ochtinska Aragonite Cave is, as the name says, an aragonite cave, the only one open to the public in Slovakia. The Aragonite occurs in kidney-shaped, needle-shaped and spiral forms.

The geological situation is really interesting and unique. In the Ochtinsky cryptokarst Palaeozoic limestones are located between phyllites, which are non-soluble rocks. In the Upper Cretaceous, part of the limestones was hydrothermically transformed into ankerites and siderites.
