Iceland's Marel Begins Production in Slovakia

June 30 (Bloomberg) -- Marel hf, an Icelandic maker of food-processing equipment, began production in Slovakia, Hospodarske Noviny reported.

The company spent 300 million koruna ($16 million) to build the factory in Nitra, western Slovakia, creating about 300 jobs, the newspaper reported, citing Marel President Hordur Arnanson. Marel may expand the plant within three years, boosting employment to about 500 people, the newspaper said.
